Girl Scouts come to championship track to earn Car Care Badge

MIAMI— On October 13, the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida visited Homestead-Miami Speedway to earn the Car Care Badge. As part of the badge requirements, the girls spent the day learning all about owning and driving a car by following the badge’s five steps, which include car maintenance, vehicle safety, safe driving practices, what to do in case of an emergency and driving for a greener world.

The Girls Scouts were taught about these practices by local representatives from the Formula & Automobile Racing Association (FARA), Lorenzo Ford, DTRT Insurance and Florida Highway Patrol. The Girl Scouts wrapped up a hard day of work by receiving their Car Care Badge and patch, along with a special commemorative Homestead-Miami Speedway patch. After getting a taste of what the Speedway is all about, the Girl Scouts were invited to return to the championship track for the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday, November 18.
