For the first time in NASCAR history, the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway will feature a race within a race between four drivers in a “winner-take-all” fight for the Sprint Cup. All fans that purchased tickets in 2013 have until Friday, April 4, to renew their tickets, and secure their seats for the championship finale unlike any that NASCAR has seen before.
“This will be the most exciting Sprint Cup Series race in the 13-year history of Ford Championship Weekend,” Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer said. “The drama surrounding who will be crowned 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion will be at an all-time high. With the changes to the Chase For The Sprint Cup, the demand for tickets will be intense so I recommend that fans renew before tickets go on sale to the general public. NASCAR has changed the game and history will be made this fall.”
A full 43-car field will compete in the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The new format now features eliminations after the third, sixth and ninth races in the 10-race Chase For The Sprint Cup. The drivers that compete for the title will be the four survivors from the field of 16 drivers that compete in the 10-race Chase. Four drivers will race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship during the season-ending Ford EcoBoost 400 November 16.
There will be no points advantage for any of the drivers coming into the Ford EcoBoost 400, and each of the four will be on equal footing as the green flag is waved. The driver that finishes best among the four contenders will claim the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.
In addition to all that comes with NASCAR’s biggest weekend in Miami—three days of series-crowning Championship finales, tailgating in Homestead-Miami Speedway’s FREE parking lots, live music and interactive-display areas throughout the midway—South Florida also offers tropical November temperatures, sunshine and the ocean, first-class restaurants, fishing in the Keys and second-to-none South Florida nightlife.
