South Floridians Driving for a Cause
Soggy conditions couldn’t dampen enthusiasm for the second Car Wash and Ride at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday (Aug 10). Hundreds of South Floridians had their car washed and took advantage of the unique opportunity to drive the 1.5-mile track in their sparkling-clean cars. Proceeds from the event, which ran from noon-9:00 p.m., will benefit the tracks newly-launched philanthropy, Driving for a Cause, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
In addition to volunteers from Homestead-Miami Speedway and Cystic Fibrosis, representatives from Assurant Group, Florida International University’s Beta Gamma fraternity and Keiser University volunteered in checking-in participants and washing cars along Pit Road. ESPN Deportes Radio (AM 1210) was also on-hand with its promotional van distributing prizes to participants.
