The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series—which in October at Homestead-Miami delivered one of the closest Championship finishes in series history—attracts a driver lineup from worldwide racing disciplines. Drivers who competed in the Rolex Sports Car Series during 2009 include NASCAR Champions Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch; IndyCar Champions Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon; and South Florida-residents Juan Pablo Montoya (NASCAR Sprint Cup contender) and Helio Castroneves (three-time Indy 500 winner turned “Dancing with the Stars” Champion).

On March 6, Dempsey Racing—fronted by “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey—will face stiff competition in the GT class that will fight Daytona Prototypes for position as the two classes compete on track simultaneously. This two-hour, 45-minute battle of man and machine will play out on the highly demanding 2.3-mile road course at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

“As illustrated by all the NASCAR and IndyCar Champions who have raced Grand-Am, this is America’s most competitive road racing,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matt Becherer. “This is a pretty unique opportunity to get up close with this caliber of competition—especially at a cost of just $20 for a full day of entertainment on and off the track.”

Fans can enjoy the ultimate on-track experience with a driver autograph session and the GRAND-AM Series Pre-Race Pit Walk welcoming fans to walk the front stretch of one of the most technologically advanced racing facilities in America. Take pictures with the drivers and cars, tailgate in the infield while enveloped in racing, and enjoy an antique car show that will thrill automotive enthusiasts of all ages. Live music also is on the menu, as local bands Selby (hip-hop, rock and folk music influence) and Spinlight City (alternative rock) will take the stage.

Adding to the local vibe on track will be Miami resident Ozz Negri and South Florida-native Andrew Carbonell, who at age 12 began racing karts at the Homestead-Miami Speedway go-kart facility and went on to win several karting championships. He also worked summers as an operations assistant for Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Friday qualifying tickets are just $5 on site (FREE with Saturday ticket); on Saturday, the Grand-Am “street stock” series will make its Homestead-Miami Speedway debut as the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge; and on Sunday, the Skip Barber National Mustang Challenge wraps up the weekend ($10). The BEST seats are available NOW for Grand-Am Weekend: For tickets and more information, call (866) 409-RACE or visit THEChampionshipTrack.com.
