New Leaderboard Under Construction for Championships
Homestead-Miami Speedway is making motorsports history this fall as the first venue ever to host all of North America’s premier racing Championships. And fans attending the NASCAR, IndyCar and Grand-Am Sports Cars Championship Weekends this fall will be greeted by a brand new scoring tower featuring the most advanced scoreboard technology available. Under construction since late-May, the leaderboard is slated for completion by Oct. 1.
The new tower will stand 158 feet above sea level and feature tilted video panels tailored to the layout of Homestead-Miami Speedway. LED displays residing on either side of a 90-foot scoring pylon will feature Panasonic video technology, providing high-resolution graphics, animation and easy-to-view statistical information.
According to Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray, Championship events demand world-class amenities for the fans who attend.
“Our goal always is to improve the racing experience for our fans,” Gray said. “The higher resolution of these new LED panels is incredible and will mean sharper, clearer images and enhanced viewing for every fan in the house, regardless of seat location.”
“The video will be so much more dramatic because of the design, digital technology and capabilities,” added Al Garcia, Homestead-Miami Speedway VP of Operations. “This is really an unbelievable upgrade from the standard leaderboard.”
