Bed-Ridden: Great Grove Racers to Test on THE Championship Track

Friday night, Aug. 28, Homestead-Miami Speedway invites competitors taking part in the Sept. 6
Great Grove Bed Race to “mattress up” with practice runs at THE Championship Track sm . Five member teams accompanied by beds will be admitted free to navigate the 1/8 th -mile course thatmatches the Great Grove Bed Race distance. “Speedway T-n-T”—which also features a car-clubshow case in the very garages that house NASCAR, IndyCar and Grand-Am Champions—runs from 6 p.m. to midnight, and Friday night the track will be cleared for the beds from 9-9:30 p.m. “Speedway T-n-T will reflect more of a ‘bedside manor’ this week, and that’s not pillow talk”said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray. “For those looking to get a leg up on the Great Grove Bed Race competition, this is a unique opportunity—I wouldn’t sleep on it.”
Homestead-Miami Speedway is a partner in the revival of a Grove tradition that dates back 31 years. The festivities take place Labor Day Weekend, kicking off with The Pajama Pub Crawl
Saturday night, Sept. 5. Sunday highlights include the Waiters/Waitresses Obstacle course; story time at The Bookstore; the Pit Row Parade of decorated beds on display; and of course the 1/8 th -mile track in the heart of the Grove Village.Three-time Indy 500 winner and Miami resident Helio Castroneves will serve as Bed Race Grand Marshall and Celebrity Judge in advance of his IndyCar Championship pursuit at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Oct. 10.
