With just three races remaining before IndyCar crowns Champions at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Oct. 10, the Series’ Top 5 points leaders include a Dixon, a Danica, a Dario and a “Dancing” star….

At the top of the standings is Scott Dixon, a two-time IndyCar Champ who on Aug. 9 at Mid-Ohio became the Series’ all-time career victory leader. Dixon’s win represented the 12th time in 13 races that the IndyCar points lead has changed hands this season.

"What a day; I can't say anything more about the team, they gave me such a great car,” Dixon said from Victory Lane. “It's great to finally win on a road course this year, and fantastic to have the points lead once more and that 20th career win.”

The New Zealand native won the Championship in 2003 and again in 2008, narrowly edging Helio Castroneves….

…Who ranks fourth in the standings, highlighted by his third career win at the Indy 500 in May. Castroneves—a South Florida resident and former winner of the ABC hit “Dancing with the Stars”—will be looking to capture his first-ever IndyCar Championship Oct. 10 on his “home track” of Homestead-Miami Speedway….

…Which has become uniquely intertwined with the career of fifth-place ranked Danica Patrick, who launched her IndyCar tenure with her first career start at Homestead-Miami in March 2005.

With rumors swirling that this season could be her final one in IndyCar before departing for NASCAR pastures—a recent visit to the shop of NASCAR’s Stewart-Haas Racing in North Carolina isn’t doing much to quell the speculation—Homestead-Miami Speedway could also serve as Patrick’s final IndyCar race. And if she’s also in the running for the title during the Oct. 10 Firestone Indy 300.? Well then, you’re talking quite the hot ticket….

…Which brings us to the husband of actress Ashley Judd—Dario Franchitti. The Scotsman this year rode the reverse shuttle of what Patrick is contemplating, rejoining IndyCar after a season on NASCAR tracks. The 2007 IndyCar Champion is looking to add another title on Oct. 10 in Miami and currently sits third in the 2009 Championship standings, behind Dixon and Ryan Briscoe. That margin from first to third place is just 20 points—the third-closest race with four races remaining in IndyCar Series history. And it all comes down to Homestead-Miami Speedway on Oct. 10.
