Homestead-Miami Speedway will be spotlighted in this year’s Pow Wow travel convention—the world’s largest —by hosting international guests for a “Need for Speed” weekend May 16-17 that includes delegate rides around THE Championship Track in both an IndyCar and a stock car.
What is Pow Wow? To quote Miami411.com: International Pow Wow is the travel industry’s premier international marketplace and is the largest generator of Visit USA travel. In just three days of intensive pre-scheduled, computer-generated business appointments, more than 1,000 U.S. travel organizations…and 1,500 international and domestic buyers from more than 70 countries conduct business negotiations that result in the generation of over $3.5 billion in future USA travel. Everybody will be there: Expedia, Priceline, Viator, plus thousands of independent travel agents... [doing] business that would otherwise be made only through an exhaustive number of around-the-world trips.
Homestead-Miami Speedway worked in conjunction with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau to create this unique experience that will put Homestead-Miami Speedway on full display to an international audience during the 40th anniversary of this event. How eager to visit Homestead-Miami Speedway are these guests from around the globe? HMS was the first experience to be booked full for its sightseeing tour.
“We are excited to provide the ‘Need for Speed’ experience to the delegates of the International Pow Wow,” said Laura Pequignot, HMS VP of Corporate Partnership & Business Development. “This is a great opportunity to showcase to international tourism leaders our world-class facility that will host Six Championships this fall.”
Indeed, Homestead-Miami Speedway will make motorsports history this fall as it becomes the first venue ever to host all of North America’s premier motorsports championships: IndyCar and Grand-Am Sports Cars during the NextEra Energy Resources SpeedJam Championships (Oct. 9-10); and NASCAR’s series-crowning Ford Championship Weekend (Nov. 20-22). Tickets for all Six Championships are on sale now: (866) 409-RACE or www.HomesteadMiamiSpeedway.com.
This weekend, the delegates will be treated like champions at THE Championship Track, enjoying lunch in the Champions Club before sliding into the cockpit of an IndyCar two-seater and a NASCAR-style race car from the Richard Petty Driving Experience. The “Need for Speed” package will give guests a first hand glimpse of life at 165 mph on HMS’ 18-to-20 degree variable-banked turns.
Pow Wow also provides the Speedway a unique opportunity to showcase the meeting space available year-round for rental , including the Champions Club, a two-story media center and a karting facility. For this weekend’s events, the Homestead-Miami Speedway karting experience will take place in the paddock area that houses race car transporters during both the SpeedJam Championships and Ford Championship Weekend.
