MIAMI—GAINSCO Auto Insurance has signed a letter of intent to become title sponsor of the 2008 IndyCar Series season-opening Indy 300 and the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. GAINSCO Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing Andy Jordan and Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray made the joint announcement today before gathered media at Daytona International Speedway.

The “GAINSCO Auto Insurance Indy 300” and “GAINSCO Grand Prix of Miami” both will take place March 29 as part of SpeedJam 2008 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, a full-day festival of racing, driver autograph sessions, car shows, Memphis barbeque, kids’ activities and live music.

“GAINSCO has enjoyed great success in Florida, and Miami is a key market for us,” said Jordan. “In fact, south Florida is the birthplace of GAINSCO’s personal auto insurance business, which is now sold across several states. So we’re particularly excited to support Miami and Homestead-Miami Speedway with our sponsorship. Our company’s passion for championship road racing in the Rolex Sports Car Series, along with the extraordinary opportunity to sponsor the opening race of the Indy season, made this a perfect partnership for GAINSCO.”

“The partnership between GAINSCO and Homestead-Miami Speedway will take SpeedJam 2008 at Homestead-Miami to an ever higher level,” said track president Gray. “Already a prominent name in the racing world, GAINSCO’s experience in motorsports sponsorship will play a significant role in hosting a world-class weekend for fans of both IndyCar and Grand-Am.”

Since 2005, GAINSCO Auto Insurance has been the premier sponsor of the No. 99 Bob Stallings Racing Daytona Prototype, which captured the 2007 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series championship with drivers Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty—“the GAINSCO Boys.” This is GAINSCO’s second foray into major event sponsorship, having sponsored the 2006 GAINSCO Grand Prix of Phoenix at Phoenix International Speedway.
