HOMESTEAD, Fla. - The championship was clinched long ago, but Kevin Harvick continues to dominate the Busch Series.
Harvick won the pole for Saturday night's Ford 300 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, turning a fast lap of 174.272 mph around the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
Harvick has a series-leading nine victories this season, but won his first pole of the year on Saturday.
"I think it bothered my guys more than it bothered me," Harvick said. "This Coast Guard Chevrolet has been fast enough to have been on the pole several times."
J.J. Yeley, Carl Edwards, Shane Huffman and Matt Kenseth rounded out the top five.
Driving a Budweiser Chevrolet for the first time in the Busch Series, Dale Earnhardt Jr. qualified 16th with a lap of 171.298 mph.
This year's Indy 500 winner Sam Hornish, Jr. will start 24th while Juan Pablo Monotya will take the green flag from the 31st starting position.
