April 22 isn't just another Saturday this year. It's also the day that tickets to Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway ¿ the hottest tickets in South Florida ¿ go on sale to the general public. Tickets for the season finales of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series to be held November 17-19, will be available at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 22. Race fans will be able to secure their tickets by calling (305) 230-RACE (7223), or toll-free at 1-866-409-RACE, and by visiting homesteadmiamispeedway.com, or any TicketMaster outlet in the state of Florida. Last year's tickets for the Ford 400, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season finale, sold out four months before the event, and an even earlier sellout date is expected for 2006. Fans watched as Tony Stewart clinched the NEXTEL Cup title last November after Greg Biffle won a thrilling race, edging Roush Racing teammate Mark Martin by .017 seconds in a side-by-side finish on the 20-degree variable banking. The battle for the victory is sure to be just as exciting when NASCAR's superstars return to Homestead-Miami Speedway. "Last year proved that Ford Championship Weekend is the toughest annual sports ticket to obtain in South Florida," said Curtis Gray, President Homestead-Miami Speedway. "With the addition of our state of the art banking and the new lights, this spectacular NASCAR race weekend event will sell out early again. We encourage fans to act now and secure their tickets to this year's Ford Championship Weekend. These tickets are not going to last." All three NASCAR Series, the Craftsman Truck, Busch, and NEXTEL Cup will crown champions under the lights during Ford Championship Weekend. The Ford 200 is scheduled for Friday, November 17, the Ford 300 will take place Saturday, November 18, and the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup will culminate with the Ford 400 on Sunday, November 19. Each day will also feature concerts, interactive exhibits, and other exciting action, included in the price of your admission ticket.
